The North Carolina Tar Heels took care of the Western Carolina Catamounts, 49-9 in college football action. The Tar Heels had a well-balanced offensive attack with Sam Howell throwing for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns and the team rushing for 231 yards. Michael Carter led the rushing attack with 73 yards on 8 rushes and 3 touchdowns. Dazz Newsome was the top receiver for UNC with 6 catches for 82 yards and a touchdown in the win.
The offenses were on display in a high-scoring ACC football game that saw the North Carolina Tar Heels beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons 59-53. Tar Heels quarterback Sam Howell threw for 550 yards and 6 touchdowns and also rushed for a touchdown in the victory. Tar Heels wide receivers Dazz Newsome and Dyami Brown had 189 and 163 receiving yards respectively and caught 2 touchdowns each. For Wake Forest, quarterback Sam Hartman threw for 429 yards and 4 touchdowns, and rushed for a TD as well.

The North Carolina Tar Heels remained perfect on the season with a 56-45 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. Tar Heels quarterback Sam Howell threw for 257 yards and 3 touchdowns on a very efficient 18 for 23 passing. The North Carolina ground game tallied 399 yards, 214 by Michael Carter and 169 by Javonte Williams, each of whom rushed for 2 touchdowns. Wide receiver Dyami Brown caught 3 passes for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Dazz Newsome hauled in 7 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown. Running back Khalil Herbert rushed for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.
UNC picked up its first win of the season with big efforts from running back Antonio Williams and wide receiver Dazz Newsome. Williams rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns while Newsome provided 110 yards receiving. North Carolina is 1-0 in the ACC.
