Resumen de etapa 4 del critérium du Dauphiné 2021. El reloj decide el nuevo orden de la clasificación general individual. Los ciclistas colombianos como Superman López y Nairo Quintana luchando por limitar las pérdidas en la contrarreloj. al igual que Alejandro Valverde. Hoy es una oportunidad de oro para que los especialistas al crono tomen diferencias sobre los escaladores puros, pues de aquí en adelante lo que viene es una alta carga de montaña en las jornadas restantes. De ahí que hombres como Geraint Thomas, Brandon Mcnulty o el mismo Richie Porte sean quienes tengan que salir a buscar un buen registro, y esten considerados como favoritos al triunfo de etapa El austriaco del bora Lukas Pöltsberger, iniciaba el dia portando la camiseta amarilla de líder luego de ganarla en la segunda etapa y defenderla el dia de ayer. Precisamente la jornada anterior dejo ganador a Sony Colbrelli del Barhein Victorious tras imponerse en el remate frente al español Alex Aranburu. Colbrelli también partia hoy con la camiseta de los puntos, mientras que la de montaña era posesión de Matthew Holmes, y el belga Ilan Van Wilder portaba la blanca de los jóvenes. Hoy la crono de 16, 5 kilómetros entre Firminy y Roche la Molieré presenta un terreno llano en los primeros 5 kilómetros, sitio en donde se inclina levemente la carretera hasta llegar al punto intermedio del kilómetro 7,5. De ahí en adelante viene una sucesión de altibajos que incluso presentan algunas rampas del 8%. Y luego el final de la etapa con los últimos 1500 metros pican para arriba al 4 por ciento de desnivel promedio. Michael Gogl del Qhubeka Assos no toma la partida debido a molestias en su rodilla producidas durante la preparación a este Dauphiné. El equipo ha decidido su retiro con el fin de preservarlo y recuperarlo para lo que será su participación en el próximo tour de Francia que inicia el 26 de junio. Con el austriaco ya son siete los ciclistas que han abandonado esta edición de la carrera. Chris Froome ha dejado de ser el temible ciclista que era hace un par de años. Además de sufrir en rampas de bajo porcentaje tampoco rinde sobre la cabra, una de sus mayores virtudes. Al final del día se ubicaba en la posición 93 muy por debajo de hombres como Nairo Quintana a quien solía siempre dejar muy lejos en los resultados. Precisamente Nairo está en carretera y al pasar por el primer referencial marca un guarismo de 9:45. Muy cerca de los tiempos hechos por Alejandro Valverde y Guillaume Martin, dos de los hombres con los que tendrá que vérselas en la montaña. Al final del ejercicio Nairo registra un tiempo de 22:50 quedándose a un minuto 14 del vencedor de la etapa. Otro de los colombianos que ha tomado la partida es Miguel Ángel Superman López. Hizo un gran tiempo en el primer puesto de control en el kilómetro 7,5 y aprovechó sus condiciones de escalador para rematar el segundo tramo finalizando en el puesto 20 del dia a 42 segundos del ganador. Lo que marca un gran avance en este tipo de pruebas para el boyacense y lo pone por delante de sus compañeros del movistar Valverde y Enric Mas. Richie Porte es el siguiente de los favoritos en entrar en acción y no defrauda. Marca el mejor tiempo en el primer punto de control y consigue llegar a meta con un registro de 21:51 apoderándose del primer lugar que hasta ese momento ostentaba el noruego Vingegaard. Su compañero Geraint Thomas aprovecha el llano para quedarse con el mejor tiempo del día en el primer parcial. Cambian las cosas en el segundo tramo y se ve que esta parte del recorrido con tantas ondulaciones no le ha sido tan favorable. Pierde el ahorro logrado en el inició, cerrando su participación en el décimo puesto a 23 segundos del ganador de la etapa. El Astana tenía reservada una sorpresa para la etapa. Ion Izaguirre llega a meta con un tiempo de 21:44 y se pone momentáneamente en el primer lugar. Hace un increíble segundo tramo en una gran remontada que lo llevó de estar perdiendo 21 segundos con Thomas a distanciarlo por 15 segundos en el resultado final. Pero la sorpresa fue aún mayor cuando su compañero en Astana Alexey Lutzenko arribó a meta con el mejor de los tiempos marcando 21:36.
