The visitors have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead and will be aiming for a clean sweep while the hosts will try to eke out a win to finish the series on a high. It is fair to say that England have been the better team in the ongoing series. When the series started Australia were the firm favourite to clinch it. But as things stand the visitors have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead and will be aiming for a clean sweep. We can look at things in two ways. England have played like a team in the entire series while the Aussies have been dependent on individual brilliance to bail them out of the precarious situations. With the World Cup so close Aaron Finch decided to demote himself at number 3 for the first T20I but immediately rectified the mistake and was back at the top for the next game. But his form is still a cause of worry for the defending champs. Yes he scored a fifty in the opening contest but he never looked fluent and that would worry the team management. For England there is a curious case of Ben Stokes. He took retirement from ODIs just to concentrate on T20Is and Test matches. But he averages a mere 19 in the shortest format of the game and hasn't done anything significant for the Three Lions in this format. This is one last chance for both sides to correct their mistakes. One last dance to make their possible combination for the World Cup. Can the Aussies salvage their pride. Pitch Report: The pitch at Manuka Oval Canberra has a balanced surface for both batters and bowlers. The average first innings score here is 142 runs. Batting first after winning the toss should be an ideal choice. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. It's New Zealand versus Pakistan for the grand finale at the Hagley Oval. Mind you this is going to be the last international contest for both sides ahead of the highly anticipated T20 World Cup. ROUND ROBIN OVERVIEW: The hosts didn't quite start the tournament in a rosy fashion as they suffered a defeat to Pakistan. But since then Kane Williamson's army has won hattrick of games defeating Bangladesh twice and Pakistan once thereby headlining in the finals. Meanwhile Pakistan has been equally formidable in the Tri-series winning three out of the four matches losing one against New Zealand. They come off a close victory against Bangladesh in their latest confront chasing a target of 174 with one ball and seven wickets to spare. WHAT TO EXPECT: Pakistan is likely to form with the same combinations but their middle and lower middle-order batting has been a huge concern. Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed have been a despair for the side for a long time now. On the flip side one can expect Captain Kane Williamson and Mitchell Santner to return for the all-important final as they were rested for the previous game. Finn Allen played a great knock in the previous contest and therefore he could be given a nod. But the interrogation will be where are we gonna see Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill bat. Perhaps Mark Chapman and Ish Sodhi shall make way for the NZ skipper and Santner. Head-to-Head in the last five matches between the two nations Pakistan has got the extra edge with three wins under their name. The equation is 1-1 in the ongoing event and both sides will be blazing all guns to yield a victory which in return will be a great morale boost for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the sixth and final league match of the Tri-Series 2022 where Bangladesh will face Pakistan at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. It is an inconsequential match as far as qualification for the final is concerned. Bangladesh are out of the reckoning while Pakistan will face New Zealand in the final tomorrow. With the T20 World Cup on the horizon no game is dead for any team as the Tigers will search for the ideal combination and end the tournament on a high with a win. We have a dead rubber on our hands before the big final between New Zealand and Pakistan takes place on Friday! So in the final match of the round-robin Pakistan will lock horns with Bangladesh at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Pakistan started the tournament with a big win against the same opponents they are facing in this encounter and then they went on to defeat the hosts as well. While it was Mohammad Rizwan in the first game and Babar Azam in the second game. Two of the world's best have done their job of winning a game for their side in this tri-series. The Bowling side has been consistent in those matches they have won. All the stars were shining bright on the Men in Green but a hiccup in the previous game against the Kiwis gave a chance for Bangladesh to get some hope of qualifying. But it is a closed topic now as Bangladesh lost to the hosts in their previous T20I. Losing against New Zealand and that too without any fight was a bit of a hear-break for the Babar Azam-led side. They sit in second place with two wins from three matches gaining four points. On the flip side the Shakib Al Hasan-led unit are right at the bottom as they have lost all of their three matches. They haven't been at their best and didn't perform as a group. However with the World Cup approaching the team is a good opportunity for the players to gain some confidence through this game. Pakistan might chop and change the side as they would like to manage the workload factor before the big game. Not sure about Bangladesh's decision on the XI as they need to finish the competition on a high. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. The host New Zealand will take on Pakistan in round 2 of the series at the beautiful Hagley Oval in Christchurch. After a day's pause New Zealand is all set to take on Pakistan in match 4 of the ongoing Tri-Series which includes both this nation and Bangladesh. The game will be played in the Hagley Oval. THE PREVIOUS ENCOUNTER: This is not the first time that both sides are battling out in the underway series. The Hosts met Pakistan in the second game of the Tri-Series where the latter came on top. New Zealand managed a below-par score of 147 which the visitors chased down with 6 wickets and 10 balls to spare. Babar Azam was brilliant with the blade in hand and carried Pakistan with the chase. HOW'S THE STAGE? Pakistan is sitting on top of the points table at the moment with 4 points from 2 games. They have won both of their games - against Bangladesh and New Zealand in the first round. A win in the upcoming fixture would push them into the final berth. On the flip side New Zealand kickstarted the in-progress series with a loss in the hands of the Men in Green. In the following game against Bangladesh they chased down a target of 138 runs with ease and bagged up two crucial points. Devon Conway has been among the run makers for the Black Caps. At the moment they sit in the second position sandwiched between two Asian nations. Although the bigger setback for them has been the loss of Daryl Mitchell in the series due to a sustained injury. WHAT TO EXPECT? Kane Williamson and his men will be looking to clinch an act of revenge against the Asian nation but it's worth notifying that the task isn't going to be easy-peasy for them. Pakistan will look to bolster their chances of qualification by playing their A-game as usual. Pakistan won their previous encounter with the Kiwis with ease as they chased down 147 with 6 wickets and 10 balls to spare. Babar Azam made an unbeaten 79 to get his side through. New Zealand got off the mark with a win against Bangladesh and will look to put up a similar show against the Men In Green. Pitch Report: The surface at Hagley Oval has been pretty balanced in this series but even with short boundaries here a high-scoring game hasn’t been seen in the series so far. 170-175 should be a good total batting 1st. The captain winning the toss will be looking to chase. The average 1st innings score at this venue has been 157 and teams chasing have won the majority of the encounters. Team Overview (Pakistan): Pakistan kickstarted the competition in a solid manner after defeating Bangladesh by a margin of 21 runs. Batting first Babar Azam's men could get to a total of 167 runs on the back of Mohammed Rizwan's sensational 78* of 50 deliveries. The Men in Green showed a team effort in their bowling and restricted the Tigers to 146 runs thereby winning by a margin of 21 runs. All of their bowlers bagged a wicket with Mohammed Wasim Jr. being the pick of them three in his bag. Team Overview (New Zealand): New Zealand arrives on the scene after being on the receiving end of a clean sweep in the hands of Australia in the Trans-Tasmanian ODI series. The last T20I series they played was against West Indies where they incurred a 2-1 series win. The worst possible news for the Kiwis is that Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the series owing to a fracture in the finger. He is also doubtful for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Earlier Blair Tickner was called up as a cover for Mitch Santner who will arrive later in the ongoing trio event due to the birth of his first child. Points of Concern: - Pakistan seems overdependent on their top three. No. 4-8 needs to get settled ahead of the showpiece event. - Despite being promising the Pakistan pace attack has gone for runs in their previous series against England on various occasions. - The dull form of Kane Williamson Devon Conway and Martin Guptill is a serious concern for the Black Caps. - The absence of Daryl Mitchell and Mitch Santner may turn out expensive with respect to the preparations for the marquee event. The first match of the series will be played between the Asian neighbours at Hagley Oval Christchurch with temperatures expected to be around 4 degrees celsius. Pakistan are coming off a 4-3 series loss against the English side who dominated them in their own backyard. Despite some good performances from the opener Mohammed Rizwan the Men in Green were outplayed by the pace of their opponents which might be a big concern for them in this series too. On the other hand Bangladesh won their previous two-match series against the UAE where they did not miss the opportunity to defeat a slightly weaker side. However in the Asia cup they went home winless losing in both the games they played against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan are highly dependent on the form of Mohammad Rizwan to take them through with their skipper Babar Azam being out of touch for a month. Their bowling looks a bit better but it will be interesting to see how they perform on these wickets. The Tigers might struggle a lot with their bowling and more so with their batting which finds it difficult to deal with pace. Head-to-head Pakistan are up by 8-2 against their rivals in the ten matches they have played so far. Expect a high-octane clash when these two dominant Asian sides clash against each other in the backdrop of the World Cup. Pitch Report: The Hagley Oval is normally a safe haven for batters but pacers also get enough help to keep them interested. In the 2 T20Is played at the venue the average 1st innings score is 168 with the chasing side winning one of those two games. The umpires and players are making their way to the middle. Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill walk down the stairs to open for India. South Africans are in a huddle before they take their respective fielding positions. Earlier in the day the toss was delayed due to wet outfield the match was reduced to 40 overs a side. India won the toss and opted to bowl first Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan walked out to open the batting for South Africa. Avesh Khan and Mohammed Siraj took the new ball for India and used the overhead conditions very well. The duo was making the ball talk swinging it both ways making life hard for the South African openers there were plenty of plays and misses in the initial stage but de Kock and Malan did well to bat through it and slowly but steadily started accumulating runs. Shardul Thakur was introduced into the attack and got the first breakthrough dismissing Janneman Malan for 22 of 42. Temba Bavuma walked out to bat and failed once again he was dismissed by Shardul on 8 after facing 12 deliveries his poor run of form continues. Markram was dismissed on a duck by Kuldeep Yadav At this point South Africa were 3 down with 71 runs on the board. De Kock and Klaasen steadied the ship Ravi Bishnoi who is making his debut was slightly wayward initially allowing the batters to sweep and cut he was bowling a bit too quick on a pitch that was turning square. He made the corrections and got the big wicket of de Kock who was just 2 runs away from his 50 after facing 54 balls. David Miller joined Klaasen in the middle and together they stitched a brilliant partnership and took South Africa past the 200 runs mark. Both got to their respective fifties and changed their gears towards the end smashing bowlers all around the park!! There were a couple of catches dropped by the Indian side which eventually cost them an extra 10-20 runs. Miller finished with an unbeaten 75 of 63 alongside Klaasen who remained not out as well on 74 of 65 South Africa got to 249/4 in their allowed over of 40. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for India he finished with 2 for 35 of his 8 overs. Kuldeep and Bishnoi picked up a wicket each Bishnoi was a bit expensive giving away 69 runs of his 8 overs. Siraj and Avesh went wicketless. With dew expected to kick in the latter half of the game this chase should be straightforward for India. Audio Content Disclaimer For This Content This is self-created content and not copied content. India vs South Africa 1st T20 Live This Match Will be Played at Greenfield International Stadium Thiruvananthapuram on 28th September 2022 This Match Will Start at 7.00pm From Indian Standard time. A series that will be a great lead-up going into the World Cups! India and South Africa are two giants of the game of cricket. India is a powerhouse especially in their own backyard. On the other hand South Africa are in a transition phase but make no mistake they are a side full of talented players. The last time these two sides met in India earlier this year we witnessed a historic series which ended 2-2. As stated earlier the Proteas are no pushovers and this series certainly provides a perfect opportunity for India to test their playing XI against a quality side. Even the great England white-ball side failed against this South African team a few months earlier. Let's be honest India have a lot of chinks in their armour to deal with. The batting lineup is relatively sorted but the bowling has surely given nightmares to skipper Rohit Sharma. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has blown cold in the last few games. Bumrah has just returned from injury and is looking like a pale shadow of himself. Arshdeep is a bright spot but even he's inexperienced. The bowling needs a bit of tweak if India are to seal the series. South Africa boasts a strong bowling unit that will test this great Indian batting lineup. The likes of Rabada Parnell and Shamsi are world class bowlers and the Indian team can't take them lightly. The T20I series is about to start so who will come out on top? What to expect: Only two T20Is have been played at this venue and only one of them a full 20-overs-a-side affair in 2019. There's no threat of rain for Wednesday with cloudy skies and temperatures in the late 20s. Team News India Injuries/Availability: Mohammed Shami hasn't travelled for the first T20I and is still out after recently missing the Australia series due to covid. Deepak Hooda too is not ready due to a back injury. India will be without Bhuvneshwar and Hardik Pandya in this series who will undergo conditioning-related training at the NCA in Bengaluru in the lead-up to next month's World Cup. Tactics & Matchups: With Hardik not available these three games offer Pant the chance to prove he has more to offer to this Indian side than just his left-handedness as the team has shown a tendency to prefer Dinesh Karthik over him in recent games. Yuzvendra Chahal who has had the wood over the left-handed Quinton de Kock in T20s will also look for an upturn in form following ordinary outings against Australia. Team News South Africa Injuries/Availability: Bavuma returns after a three-month layoff courtesy an elbow injury that he sustained on South Africa's previous tour of India in June. Tactics & Matchups: Wayne Parnell who picked a five-wicket haul in his last T20I in August could trouble India's right-hander dominated top-order who've all had issues against left-arm pace. On the batting front South Africa will hope Quinton de Kock and David Miller can take the lead in blunting India's in-form spinner Axar Patel owing to their match-up superiority.
