Kobe saved his best for last in this one, scoring 14 points in the final five and a half minutes of the game to slam the door shut on the Nuggets and their season. He finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks, doing a little bit of everything to lead the Lakers to their first playoff series win in 4 years. He’s a frontcourt shooter they can put next to Draymond Green or Kevon Looney or Jonathan Kuminga and better spread the floor in otherwise cramped lineups. Anthony Slater On Dario Saric’s role: But Šarić — unlike JaMychal Green — can slip past a closeout, put it on the floor and keep the chain moving with some quick-decision playmaking on the move. He’s averaged two assists per game in his career as a role player. That’s an element that Porter and Nemanja Bjelica gave the bench two seasons ago but the second unit often lacked last season (and why Kerr regularly went to Anthony Lamb in certain lineup combinations). Anthony Slater On Dario Saric’s role: Šarić can fit into just about any lineup combination, but his second unit pairing with Kuminga is one that should intrigue. The numbers always suggested Kuminga worked well next to Lamb a season ago because of Lamb’s ability to spread the floor and pass. That’ll be Šarić’s presumed role.
