Kusal Perera's missed save ball was converted into his 19th T20I half - century by David Warner. The Australian team recorded an easy victory today (28th). The Australians had seven wickets and three overs to spare as they chased down the 155-run target for victory. David Warner increased his innings to 65 off 42 balls when he missed an easy catch off wicketkeeper Kusal Perera off Dushmantha Chameera. It also included 10 fours, turning the keepers into spectators at 30 yards. Skipper Aaron Finch, who batted faster than Warner, started the innings with 37 off 23 balls with two sixes and five fours. Leading the innings, the first wicket partnership became 70 off 42 balls. This fast connection also gave Australia the opportunity to score 63 runs, the highest score by a team in a power play at this tournament. Wanindu Hasaranga, who took Finch's wicket in the first over when the skipper gave the ball away, also took Maxwell's wickets within 10 runs. Dasun Shanaka also broke Warner's 50 - run partnership with Steven Smith for the third wicket. But even then, Warner was able to take Sri Lanka's hopes of victory even further. Undaunted, Steven Smith and Marcus Stoinis led Australia to victory in the 17th over. Smith, who played a patient innings, remained on the wicket with 28 runs and Stones with 16 runs. Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka put on 63 runs for the second wicket in 44 balls. Charith Asalanka, who started the innings with two fours off the first two balls of the innings, became the first batsman to challenge the Australians. Left-hander Glenn Maxwell, who batted with confidence from the moment he arrived without any hesitation, snatched 16 off his first ball with a six off mid-wicket zone. Kusal Perera was also calm at the other end when Asalanka attacked. Sri Lanka also had the opportunity to score 53 runs in 6 overs in the power play at the head of Asalanka's attack. This was the second highest score by Sri Lanka in the tournament this year as well as the fifth highest in the tournament. However, Sri Lanka were able to score 79 runs at the end of the first 10 overs. Despite the pre-match plans against the Australians, the Australian captain used the Sri Lankan batsmen's poor batting in the face of spin bowlers as a trump card. No matter how well he hit the ball, Charith Asalan called his best trump, Adam Sampa, by placing three players on the ground to burn Asalanka. Sampa directed a few balls to Asalanka as a spin ball and the next ball was a googly ball. Unexpected spin on the other side increased the gap between the bat and the ball. Asalanka did not have as much of a hitting power as he had hoped, so it was caught by square footer Steven Smith in the square leg area. For the first time in his international career, Asalanka took the wicket in front of a spinner.
