A career-best haul for Luke Fletcher and an unbroken 104-run stand between Lyndon James and Steven Mullaney put Nottinghamshire firmly in the driving seat after day one of their clash against Essex. Fletcher ripped through the reigning champions' line-up, ably assisted by Stuart Broad and James, as Essex tumbled to 99 all out. Haseeb Hameed continued his fine form at the top of the order with 49, before James (42*) and Mullaney (63*) led the hosts to 188-4 at close, a lead of 89. Watch full day one highlights above.
Stuart Broad and Dane Paterson starred with the ball as Nottinghamshire hit the front against Warwickshire on day two, before unbeaten Haseeb Hameed and Joe Clarke half-centuries further turned the screw for Peter Moores' side.
A career-best unbeaten 73 by all-rounder Liam Patterson-White led a Nottinghamshire recovery from 119 for six to 273 all out on the opening day of their LV=Insurance County Championship match against Warwickshire, who were 24 for two at the close. Academy graduate Patterson-White batted for three hours and eight minutes and hit 12 boundaries, striking the ball cleanly on both sides of the wicket. With England’s Dom Sibley not taking his usual place at the top of the order, Warwickshire hoped to survive the 10 overs they faced at the end of the day but instead lost Rob Yates and debutant Indian Test batsman Hanuma Vihari without scoring, the latter a victim for the returning Stuart Broad.
