Hoy es un día histórico. Stefano Peschiera consiguió la medalla de bronce en vela (categoría dinghy masculino), la primera presea para Perú en los Juegos Olímpicos París 2024. El velerista hizo historia, ya que ningún peruano subió al podio olímpico desde hace 32 años. Esta también es la quinta medalla peruana en los Juegos Olímpicos y la primera de bronce. La última medalla de la delegación peruana fue de la mano de Juan Giha con su plata en tiro en Barcelona 1992. Las otras tres preseas de Perú en la historia de los Juegos Olímpicos llevan la firma de Edwin Vásquez Cam (oro en Londres 1948) y Francisco Boza (plata en Los Angeles 1984), ambos también tiradores, junto a la selección de vóleibol femenino (plata en Seúl 1988). Stefano Peschiera inició con pie derecho la competencia y terminó en primer lugar en la segunda regata. En la Medal Race terminó 9°, justo por delante del británico Michael Beckett, su rival a vencer.
