A video compilation of some of the highlights of Ethiopian born Canadian citizen Abel Bogale's 2017 college soccer season. Set video to HD mode for best quality. Abel, a creative midfielder who can play on the wing and up front, turns out for the Rams of Bluefield College in the American National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) first division. Abel made the switch to the Virginia based college after being among three players who won a scholarship at a trial involving over three hundred players in the city of Montreal last summer. Prior to being spotted at that trial, he was a member of two Quebec Premier League title winning squads (2015 and 2016) with semi professional side CSMR Outremont of Montreal. After leaving Canada for the United States towards the end of last season, the Ethiopian has had a breakout season this year in Virginia, firmly establishing himself in the starting eleven. He has more than repaid the faith placed in him by his coach with a lofty return of seven goals and four assists in just ten games for Bluefield College thus far. His finesse and execution are what set him apart on the pitch, as well as his no nonsense attitude and bags of endurance, both cited by his coach Chase Neidig in an interview included towards the end of this video. A criminal justice major at the college, Abel speaks English and French in addition to his native Amharic. Abel hails from the Eastern Ethiopian city of Dire Dawa. He lived in the cities of Jigjiga, Dire Dawa and the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for most of his childhood, before moving to snowy Canada aged twelve. He honed his talents in the city of Montreal and his stock rose due to his exploits first at schoolboy level and then later in the semi professional game. His favorite soccer team is Ethiopian Coffee FC, while he supports Chelsea FC among European club sides.
