A PODFUL OF SAINTS Welcome to Series Three of ‘A Podful of Saints.’ For about 40 minutes each week during the 2021-22 season three St Albans City stalwarts spout about the goings on at Clarence Park in a completely and utterly unofficial fan podcast. Three supporters – Lee Wood, Jake Ellacott and David Tavener – are veterans of the City media department and can claim to having worked extensively in promoting the club since back in the early 1980s. Series Three Episode 45: A Tonbridge too far for Saints St Albans City’s fading 2021-22 season was finally extinguished on Saturday, 7th May, by Tonbridge Angels who, fresh from the surprise sacking of manager Steve McKimm, chalked up their first victory at Clarence Park. For City the defeat extended our dismal run to eight points from 14 games. This would suggest that a certain amount of rebuilding is required in the summer. Along with Herts Advertiser sports editor Neil Metcalfe, the regular Podders look at a number of issues from the campaign just ended ranging from what went wrong after the famous F.A. Cup win over Forest Green Rovers in front of the BBC cameras to what on earth is that shirt that Neil is wearing. The future of City manager Ian Allinson and 34-goal striker Shaun Jeffers come under the spotlight and Neil, fresh from labelling the season ‘a failure’ (FGR match excluded), explains why he believes City could have survived in the National League had promotion been achieved. And that little lot only scratches at the surface of what is discussed. Kaya nasabi ni Coach Tim cone, "Justine Brownlee is the Billy Ray Bates of this generation." JUSTINE BROWNLEE IS THE BILLY RAY BATES OF THIS GENERATION. #HalohaloSportsRepublik #BillyRayBates #JustineBrownlee
#shorts #MichaelJordan #AirJordan Who wouldn't want to own a pair of Nike sneakers worn by Jordan during his rookie season? As with other documented Michael Jordan personally game worn shoes from 1985, these two shoes are actually different sizes, specifically size 13 for the left shoe and size 13.5 for the right shoe. The sneakers with this discrepancy were made based upon the specific requests of Michael Jordan himself. The manufacturer's code inside each shoe states "850102-TYPS," with the last two letters of "PS" referencing "Player Sample" and were shoes not meant for general release. They also indicate that they were manufactured between January and February of 1985. These sneakers feature a red and black color scheme to match the Chicago Bulls. The outsides of the shoes are red, along with the heels and ankle supports. The rest of the sneaker design is white with black laces, black Nike "swoosh" on both sides, and black trim above the red ankle support. The soles of the sneakers are red and display excellent game use. According to the "Footlocker Approved" website, "In 1985, Nike gave Jordan and his signature line of sneakers and apparel a unique logo - clearly, this line was created to be very different from Nike's previous basketball efforts. Designer Peter Moore was tasked to come up with the first Air Jordan shoe. The Air Jordan 1 featured the Nike Swoosh on the mid panel and a newly designed wings logo on the upper ankle. The first Air Jordan was similar in design to other popular Nike models released in the 1980s, such as the Air Force 1, Terminator, and Dunk. The Air Jordan 1 featured a Nike Air unit for heel cushioning, padded foam ankle collars for additional protection, and a toe overlay for added lockdown." Jordan has added his signature in black ink on the red inside upper ankle of both sneakers. These game used and signed Michael Jordan rookie sneakers come with a full LOA from MEARS (315001) for the game use and individual LOAs from PSA/DNA (AA07832 & AA007833) for his signatures. There is also a letter of provenance from Bulls/Bucks trainer Mark Pfeil that states the shoes were obtained during the spring of 1985. A similar pair sold for $560,000 at auction back in May; however, those pair did not come with a letter of authenticity like the one we are providing from Mark Pfeil. Please also note that these shoes were originally sold in a charity auction on September 9, 1985, that then Bulls Trainer Mark Pfeil was attending. In addition to the typed LOA from Pfeil, a handwritten letter accompanies these offered sneakers written to the winners of that September 1985 charity auction who were going to sell/donate the shoes in 2001. Pfeil confirms not only that he donated the shoes but that 16 years later, Michael Jordan remembered the event. He also states the charity still had photos of him and the items he donated from Jordan at that September 9th charity event.

Series Three Episode 37: Stuttering our way towards the Play-Offs. With two wins in two games behind them, the Supersoaraway Saints travelled to Eastbourne Borough last Saturday (5th March 2022) and put in a pretty dismal display when going down to a 1-0 defeat. That game was settled by The Sports leading goal scorer, Charley Kendall, finding the back of the net and the following Tuesday, 8th March, it was the turn of City’s Goal Machine (courtesy of Jonny Seabrook), Shaun Jeffers, to find the target with his 30th goal of the season during a 1-1 draw with Oxford City. Our three Podsters offer their incisive views on these two games and other events at Clarence Park. Our thoughts are with Ukraine and its glorious people. Feel free to give your views on the goings on at Clarence Park and we’ll look to include them in the next episode. Email: sacfanpod@outlook.com.
