At home in Blacksburg for their ACC Conference opener, the Hokies held on late and defeated the Louisville Cardinals, 75-68. Virginia Tech did not have a made field goal in the final 4:18 of the game, but they were able to hold and expand their lead due to good free throw shooting. The Hokies were 22 of 27 from the free throw line. MJ Collins scored a game-high 20 points, and had four rebounds and four assists. Lynn Kidd added 19 points and four rebounds. For Louisville, Skyy Clark was the Cardinals leading scorer with 16 points. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield had 14 points and nine rebounds.
