SPURS “HIT A WALL,” DROP FIRST GAME OF ROAD TRIP

The San Antonio Spurs dropped the second game of their back-to-back Sunday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves 96-88. The loss marked the team’s first of their five-game road trip, and also snapped San Antoino’s three-game win streak. The Spurs played without their star player, DeMar DeRozan, who was out due to personal reasons. Spurs guard Lonnie Walker IV stepped up in his absence, finishing with a season-high 25 points. “We hit a wall tonight, just ran out of gas” said head coach Gregg Popovich. “You know after we got up nine we played really poorly. Starting with a couple of missed free throws and then we fouled a three-point shooter and at that point, you know we needed a little better play from a couple of guys. It’s been a good run here on the road, but we just ran out of gas.” San Antonio closes out their road trip Tuesday when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
