A cagey first half was broken in the 37th minute when a Yasuto Wakizaka cross was turned into his own net by Cerezo defender Ayumu Seko. Hiroaki Okuno gave the hosts a well-deserved lead, but Brazilian substitute Leandro Damião pounced on a rebound with his first touch and Kaoru Mitoma put the game beyond Cerezo a minute later.
