A tweet from NBA columnist Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson in 2018 always stuck with me and where we see LeBron James and Kevin Durant right now compelled me to bring it back up. Kevin Durant may have joined LeBron James on the Lakers in the summer of 2019. The idea of them teaming up at any time in their careers obviously sounds historic, but doing it at that particular time might have staved off the embarrassing situations they're both in basketball-wise that they couldn't have seen coming. LeBron was able to win a ring with Anthony Davis in the bubble in 2020, but the Lakers have declined rapidly since then. Durant signed up for a situation in Brooklyn that has spiraled into him now wanting out. These two megastars may have needed each other in order more than they realized.
