Profiles that I made in 2021 where I describe what separates these particular athletes from other cream-of-the-crop athletes in their sports. Because Manuel Neuer has an early birthday (March 27) of my "Elite" soccer players, his is the 18th "Elite" Soccer profile, the 67th profile on my 2021 playlist, and his profile is the seventh "G.O.A.T." profile on my 2021 playlist, (second Soccer "G.O.A.T." profile of 2021). In this episode, I break down the hype and the numbers as I decipher what makes Manuel Neuer one of the greatest goaltenders in the history of the sport, and one of soccer's most valuable players today, even at 35 years old. I used the Pro Soccer-Reference databases to research his stats and accomplishments as an elite goaltender at each level. I additionally used Wikipedia to cite his past team accomplishments with his Schalke 04, Bayern Munich, and German national squads. I have only recorded the accomplishments he has achieved to this date, and I have logged some of this most recent season because the 2020/21 Bundesliga and Champions League seasons are not yet complete as of March 27, 2021. My intent with the profiles is to provide my justification for referring to these particular athletes as not only great, but athletes that are performing at an "elite" level within their own sport.
