Michigan State saw a 20-point lead shrink to two in the waning moments of the second half, but two late free throws from freshman guard Max Christie helped the No. 7-seed Spartans close out a 76-72 victory over 10th-seeded Maryland in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Christie led MSU with 16 points in his postseason debut, going 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and adding six rebounds on the defensive end.
