The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in Game 3 of their second-round matchup. After losing Game 2 in overtime, Vegas came out of the gates strong in front of a full house at T-Mobile Arena. Vegas outshot Colorado 14-3 in the first period, however, Philipp Grubauer was standing tall, and the game was scoreless going into the second period. 4 minutes into the second period, William Karlsson kicked off the scoring. Pietrangelo and Martinez assisted on that goal. However, two minutes later, Soderburg scored off of a rebound from Bellemare and Sherwood at 6:07. Both teams would exchange chances, but at the end of two periods, it was tied at 1. In the third, Rantanen extended his playoff point streak to 17 straight games. Rantanen scored on a powerplay goal, and the Avs lead 2-1. Fleury would make some key stops, and Marchessault scored to level this game at 2. 45 seconds later, Pacioretty had a great tip in that gave the Golden Knights the lead. Vegas would hold on, winning their first of the series. The Avalanche lead the series 2-1, and Game 4 is on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena.
