Thomas Muller trained with Germany for the first time since the 2022 World Cup on Tuesday after coach Hansi Flick recalled the 33-year-old following an injury to Niclas Fullkru. Muller played the last of his 121 games for Germany in December as the Germans failed to make it past the group stage in Qatar. Muller said at the time it might have been his last international game but later said he'd been “emotional” and would remain available for selection. He was left out of the squad for all five friendlies since – in that period Germany have won just once, a 2-0 victory over Peru and now face friendlies against Japan and France. Muller returns at a crunch time for Germany and Flick ahead of hosting the European Championship next year.
