On April 7, 2012 the Pensacola Ice Flyers shutout the Knoxville Ice Bears 1-0 to advance to the 2012 SPHL finals. Pensacola won Game 1 4-1 in Knoxville on April 5th. The 2012 Playoff Championship will be between The Pensacola Ice Flyers and the Columbus Cottonmouths. This is the first time a Pensacola hockey team has reached the finals since 1998.
