Belgium Vs Panama 3 - 0 FIFA WOrld Cup 18/05/2018 Belgium 3-0 Panama REPORT: Romelu Lukaku nets double in World Cup 2018 opener They took a while to get going but Belgium are well and truly up and running at the World Cup after a comfortable victory over Panama. Roberto Martinez could not hide his delight once Dries Mertens volleyed home the opener. The Napoli star expertly lifted the ball into the far corner with his looping effort, which eased any lingering nerves. Belgium built on that lead and grew in confidence, leading to Romelu Lukaku grabbing a brace to pad the score in a dominant second half display. The first came from a delightful cross by Kevin De Bruyne with the outside of his boot. Lukaku glanced home the header and after a brief review from VAR, the lead was doubled. The game was put to bed with Lukaku's second when Eden Hazard triggered a fine counter attack and the Chelsea star slipped in the Man United striker with a perfectly weighted pass. Lukaku composed himself before lifting it expertly over the onrushing Jaime Penedo. An ominous sign to their rivals that Belgium strolled to victory without hitting their best form.
