POINT SPREAD PICK A pivotal NFC West battle here as the Los Angeles Rams head up to play the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks can clinch the division with a win, while the Rams will be in the driver’s seat if they win. The Rams are coming off a humiliating loss to the lowly Jets, and I think now is the perfect time to buy-low on them. For a few reasons, this is a great matchup on paper for them. To take on Seattle, you need an elite corner who can shut down DK Metcalf, and the Rams have one in Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey completely locked him up the first time these teams met, and Russell Wilson barely even looked his way. In that same first meeting, Wilson looked rattled and threw two interceptions while taking six sacks. The Seahawks’ offense has quietly fallen off a cliff after their hot start and Wilson only had 124 yards last week against Washington. This isn’t the type of defense that Jared Goff struggles against, since the Seahawks can’t get pressure. Take the Rams. GAME TOTALS PICK The over is the way to go here. The first time these teams played the total opened nearly 10 points higher than this, and I don’t think what we’ve seen warrants an adjustment quite that large. Emerging young running back Cam Akers is out for this one, which means the Rams will be going pass-heavy. I would already expect that to be the case even with Akers against this burnable Seahawks secondary. Goff struggles when under duress, but he’s always extremely efficient when kept clean, and Seattle doesn’t have much of a pass-rush. The Seahawks are still giving up the most passing yards per game on the year. I think Wilson will have learned from some of his mistakes in the first matchup of these teams and will be a little better here. I wouldn’t bet this big, but I think there’s a decent chance we see a shootout.
