Almaty - February 4 - Heavy snowfall did not prevent ski jumpers from participating in mixed competition 1 Gold: Haruka Iwasa, Naoki Nakamura (Japan) – 445.1 2 Silver: Marta Krepelkova, Cestmir Kozisek (Czech Republic) – 434.9 3 Bronze: Yuka Kobayashi, Max Koga (Japan) – 430.6 The staff of the Sunkar International Ski Jumping Complex had to prepare for the competition in advance. Heavy snowfall did not subside during the tournament. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the athletes could demonstrate their abilities and cheer the crowds. Haruka Iwasa and Naoki Nakamura from Japan have shown their determination to win from the very start. It is the second gold medal of Haruki Iwasa at this year’s Universiade. The second place went to Marta Krepelkova and Cestmir Kozisek from the Czech Republic. Yuka Kobayashi and Max Koga from Japan took the bronze. In the latter two pairs, women demonstrated a higher results compared to their partners. Max Koga, the bronze medal winner, told about his struggle during the competition. “My results are not that good. Yuka’s two attempts were perfect, so we could get the bronze as a result,” he said. - What are your feelings? - I am immensely happy. This is a major competition and I have won my first medal. - We learned that you are of a Canadian descent. Tell us about it. - It’s true. I am half-Japan, half-Canadian.
