Doncic has been named as the Western Conference player of the month for the month of February and the Mavs have been successful with him. A lot has changed for the Mavs since the trade deadline. After Dallas traded Kristaps Porzinigs to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans, the team has had a late season surge. Since the Porzingis trade, the Dallas Mavericks are 11-3. Spencer Dinwiddie has hit game-winners in back to back games against the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets out of Luka Doncic’s assists and the Dallas Mavericks are currently tied with the Utah Jazz for the 4th seed in the Western Conference. Dinwiddie and Jalen Brunson have formed a great backcourt combination for Dallas, as the Mavs have outscored opponents by 24 points per 100 possessions with Dinwiddie and Brunson on the floor even if Doncic is out. Dorian Finney-Smith has also been a great piece for Dallas, as he has been making 75 percent of his three-pointers when he is on the floor with Doncic, Brunson, and Dinwiddie. Dorian Finney-Smith has also signed a 4-year 55.6 million extension prior to the trade deadline. Luka Doncic has also scored a career-high 51 points in a win against the LA Clippers in February. Coach Jason Kidd has enjoyed Spencer Dinwiddie’s clutch buzzer beaters and Luka Doncic’s MVP-caliber season but can the Mavs get past the first round? Right now, it looks like the Dallas Mavericks have won the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Dinwiddie has looked great so far alongside Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson.
