In a midweek game re-sheduled from Matchweek 24, Oita Trinita caused a 3-2 upset on the road against third-placed FC Tokyo. After a quiet first half, Oita opened the scoring after 53 minutes thanks to Rei Matsumoto. Leandro then equalised eight minutes later, before substitutes Tatsuya Tanaka and Naoki Nomura put Oita 3-1up. Defensive midfielder Manato Shinada pulled a goal back for FC Tokyo but Oita would ultimately take the three points.
