That being said, there are a few teams around the league who'd even be capable of trading for Griffin's gargantuan contract, meaning a buyout seems likely between the two parties. If Griffin finds himself in search of a new home, these three teams could sign him.3. Los Angeles Lakers. The Los Angeles Lakers are always going to be in the mix for big-name players when they hit the buyout market. LA has little actual need for Griffin, with Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma, Markieff Morris, Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell all in the frontcourt already, but they're still a possible landing spot as the team hopes to repeat in 2021. Plus, the possibility of moving back to Los Angeles and helping the Lakers beat his old team, the Clippers, has to be intriguing to Griffin.2. Charlotte Hornets.Don't sleep on the Charlotte Hornets being a contender in the Griffin sweepstakes. He's a Jordan Brand athlete, which makes a reunion with Hornets owner Michael Jordan a possibility. Charlotte currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 13-15 record, and adding Griffin would give the Hornets a playmaker in the frontcourt to complement LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward. He'd be afforded plenty of minutes as Charlotte vies for its first playoff berth since the 2015-16 season.1. Miami Heat. The Miami Heat need to reinvigorate their season after a slow start, with the team currently sitting in ninth in the East, outside of the playoffs after making the Finals last season. Averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, Griffin isn't the star that he once was. But Miami showed last playoffs that it can compete just by putting good pieces around Jimmy Butler, and Griffin would be another weapon in the mix as Miami makes its postseason push. Pat Riley loves to make splashy moves, and a Griffin signing would certainly be that.
