Spoiling Michael Jordan's first NBA game in his home state of North Carolina, the Charlotte Hornets won their 7th game in franchise history, defeating the Chicago Bulls 103-101. Kelly Tripucka scored 30 points to lead the Hornets, and Tim Kempton scored 16. Kurt Rambis' putback shot at the final buzzer broke the tie and gave Charlotte the win. Jordan led the Bulls with 33 points, five rebounds and six steals.
