John Tortorella and the Columbus Blue Jackets challenged Vincent Trochek's goal for offsides. The referees reviewed the play and determined that the goal stands. As a result, the Blue Jackets were assessed a minor penalty for an unsuccessful challenge to close the 2nd period. However, after reviewing the goal a 2nd time during the intermission, it was determined the goal was in fact offsides. The remainder of the penalty at the start of the 3rd period was taken back, but the goal stood. This goal would end up deciding the game.
