December 18, 1996 - Detroit Pistons guard Lindsey Hunter outscored former teammate Allan Houston 28 to 2 in Houston's first return to the Palace of Auburn Hills since spurning the Pistons for the New York Knicks the previous summer. Hunter scored 22 points in the first half alone, finishing 11-of-17 from the field and 4-of-6 from deep in a lopsided 112-78 win. The victory pushed the Pistons to 19-4, neck and neck with the defending NBA champion Chicago Bulls. Detroit's record would swell to 40-13 before a dispute between Otis Thorpe and head coach Doug Collins would initiate a late season tailspin, resulting in a first round exit. This game also marks the only time in Detroit history (as of 2020) the Pistons have worn throwback Ft. Wayne jerseys, commemorating the NBA's 50th anniversary.
