भारत और इंग्लैंड के बीच अहमदाबाद में खेला गया तीसरा टेस्ट मैच दो दिन में ही समाप्त हो गया. भले ही मैच भारत ने जीत लिया लेकिन सबके मन में एक ही सवाल है कि आख़िरकार ऐसी जीत क्या वाक़ई टेस्ट क्रिकेट के लिए ठीक है या ऐसी जीत पर गर्व किया जा सकता है? इससे पहले चेन्नई में खेले गए दूसरे टेस्ट मैच में भी किसी को कोई रोमांच महसूस नहीं हुआ, ख़ासकर तब जब इससे पहले ऑस्ट्रेलिया में भारत ने जिस अंदाज़ में टेस्ट सिरीज़ जीती. इस तरह के मैच में पिच का बहुत बड़ा रोल होता है. वैसे तो पिच को दोष नहीं दिया जा सकता. लेकिन अगर बेहतरीन बल्लेबाज़ों के होते हुए भी सिर्फ़ गेंद फेंकना ही मैच जीतने की गारंटी बन जाए तो ग़लत है.
