Cleveland Browns vs Cincinnati Bengals 2021 NFL Week 18 Livestream. Today the #Browns season comes to an unspectacular end. The #ClevelandBrowns had high hopes this season that were wiped away quickly by the devastating combination of Injuries, Covid, poor discipline with ill-timed penalties, horrendous special teams (especially kicker), poor overall execution (including drops on critical plays) and drama that was played out publicly. All in all, this was a character building season. Baker Mayfield took the brunt of the blame and was the subject of the drama all season. He injured himself while trying to make a tackle early in the season which had a considerable impact on his ability to accurately throw the ball. He was targeted by Odell Beckham Senior who published a video on Instagram which signaled to the organization that OBJ no longer wished to be a member of the team. He was then granted his release and has went on to join the Los Angeles Rams in productive fashion. Baker ended up playing through most of the pain, but unfortunately it wasn't enough. He had many turnovers that came at really terrible times and just wasn't getting enough support from his teammates to be able to overcome the deficiencies. The Browns went through three kickers this season including Parkey, McLachlan and Naggar, only to have all three miss important field goals and extra points when games were on the line. Ultimately those missed points here and there meant more games in the loss column for the Browns which resulted in the consequence of missing the playoffs once again. This season was all about missed opportunity and bad luck. The drops, the missed kicks, the defense not figuring it out till mid season and so on. While the quarterback does take a lot of the blame, the rest of the team needs to look themselves in the mirror and decide if they want to back up their leader or led him be fed to the wolfs on Twitter and in the media. Very few of them came out in public support of Baker as the drama seemed to overwhelm the young star. Which brings us to today. A meaningless game, with mostly backups playing for both teams. A game which could play a big impact on the draft position that the Browns get next year, which could ultimately have big variable determinations on the future of the organization if they miss out on the best player at a critical position such as Wide Receiver. I fully expect Baker Mayfield to rehab and return at full strength next season to be back and lead the Browns to a much better season. HIs left shoulder, now having gone through surgery to repair the torn labrum, will have to be closely monitored and could have an impact on his career if he takes more hits and reinjures it. Hopefully Kareem Hunt will return next year from his injury that sidelined him for most of the season. And hopefully the Browns can draft another young star to help out this offense, who's spend the last two drafts taking only defensive players in the first two rounds. With the emergence of JOK at the linebacker position and Greg Newsome II turning out to be a viable corner opposite of Pro Bowler Denzel Ward, with the consistent dominance of Myles Garrett, this Browns defense could be one of the best in the league. Certainly one of the best, talent wise, that the Browns have been able to field in many many years.
