Anze Kopitar goal. Los Angeles Kings vs Anaheim Ducks 1/17/2016

GAME RECAP: Anze Kopitar had a goal and assist, and goalie Jonathan Quick made 30 saves to help the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday at Honda Center. Kopitar, who signed an eight-year contract extension Saturday, scored what proved to be the winning goal when he tipped a shot by Brayden McNabb past Ducks goaltender John Gibson at 17:40 in the second period to make it 3-1. Kopitar has 20 points in his past 15 games and goals in three of the past four. Forward David Perron, who was acquired by Anaheim from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, beat Quick with a shot through traffic from the left point 5:33 into the third period to cut the deficit to one goal. It was his fifth goal of the season. Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano appeared to have tied the game at 9:46 when Ryan Kesler's centering pass went off his skate and into the net. But the goal was waved off after the officials ruled that Cogliano had directed the puck into the net with a distinct kicking motion, and the call was upheld after a video review. The Ducks (19-17-7) outshot the Kings 16-7 in the third period and controlled play for shifts at a time, but couldn't get the tying goal past Quick. Recently acquired center Vincent Lecavalier put the Kings ahead 57 seconds into the second period when he scored his second power-play goal in as many games. But Anaheim's Rickard Rakell tied it 33 seconds later when he deflected rookie defenseman Shea Theodore's shot into the net with the butt-end of his stick It was Rakell's ninth goal, matching his career-high. Theodore has three points in his past three games. Toffoli put the Kings (28-13-3) ahead to stay at 15:44 by knocking a loose puck off the chest of Anaheim defenseman Sami Vatanen and into the net for his 22nd goal of the season. Kopitar made it 3-1 less than two minutes later. Gibson made 23 saves for Anaheim, which concludes an eight-game homestand against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. The Kings host the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
