Bengaluru FC made a fantastic comeback in the second half to qualify for the Durand Cup 2021 knockouts at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, a. k. a. Salt Lake Stadium. Former ISL champions Bengaluru FC defeated the Indian Navy by 5-3 goals to qualify for the quarter-finals. In the first half, the Indian Navy took the lead with two goals, thus putting Bengaluru FC under pressure. In the 19th minute, Jijo F netted the ball, thus opening the scoreboard for the Indian Navy. Sreyas VG scored another goal in the first half. The Blues appeared to be charged up in the second half and in the 53rd minute, Leone Augustine gave a massive shot, thus opening the scoreboard for the Blues. Within a few minutes, Harmanpreet Singh, Ajay Chhetri, and Huidrom Thoi Singh scored goals for the team. Vijay J managed to score the final goal for the Indian Navy, thus playing their last game in the Durand Cup 2021. With a double strike, Harmanpreet Singh bagged the Man of the Match award. Asia’s oldest football tournament, the Durand Cup, is back again with a tough fight between the sixteen teams. This is the 130th edition of the tournament. The sixteen teams are divided into four groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. The final is on October 3, 2021.
