FS #193; FSV# 181. Is that state of South Carolina the home of chickens-primarily roosters?! (I know, Clemson is not one, and UDelaware is the Blue Hens. Though the real history is that CCU is part of the USC system, and they want their team name to be derived from the main one located in Columbia.) For this university located in Conway, it was well overdue as only recently the words to their fight song have been found. This team was added because they were champions of the Big South Conference in 2015. Now, the Chanticleers (Pronounced: "SHON-ti-clear")- though it is derived from French for "Chante claire" (sing clear), the team name is referenced as a rooster in a fable featuring a fox. It does fit well since when they crow, whoever is best suited will sing the clearest. Therefore, the fittest ones after a battle will sing the best-that is what CCU would be. With that story, this song was good for the champions of basketball after entering the NCAA tourney that year. NOTE: I know that there are new lyrics to the song. They will be eventually replaced. No profanity in your comments, please. (C) Excelsior27/30
