The 8th-seeded Georgetown Hoyas stunned the top-seeded, 3rd-ranked Syracuse Orange 91-84 in the Big East quarterfinals. The Hoyas, ranked 22nd coming into the game, trailed by as much as 8 points during the second half, before a 19-2 run put them firmly in control of the game. Chris Wright led the Hoyas with 27 points, with Austin Freeman (18 pt), Jason Clark (17 pt) and Greg Monroe (15 pt, 10 reb, 7 ast) also playing well. Wes Johnson scored 24 points for the Orange, who also had three additional double-digit scorers: Scoop Jardine (19), Kris Joseph (18) and Andy Rautins (14). Unfortunately, the game was marred by a knee injury suffered by Syracuse's Arinze Onuaku with 5 minutes left in the game. That injury would end the senior's college career.
