This edition of Home Run Showdown features Thurman Munson of the New York Yankees against Tony Conigliaro of the Boston Red Sox. This is an excellent matchup that goes right down to the last pitch. Munson and Tony C crush many blows that would have been long gone in today's Yankee Stadium, but bounce around in the gap and near the monuments in center field. This is a tribute to two of the top players in the American League in their time, and two of the more tragic figures in baseball in the second half of the 20th century.
