Broxbourne Borough manager Ashley Fisk was inspired by the presence of The FA Cup trophy as his side beat Hoddesdon Town in The FA Cup with Budweiser Extra Preliminary Round. Goals from Kerkston McPhursen, Leon Skinner, Jordan Watson and Sam Adejonki meant that the majority of the fans went home happy from the Hertfordshire club but it was not all plain sailing for the South Midlands League side who were under pressure for large parts of the match. "Hoddesdon were the better team early on and it was down to us to defend well and work hard to stay in the game early on," Fisk conceded. "In the first 20 minutes we were really up against it and even until maybe the fourth goal went in Hoddesdon were still domination in areas. It says something when you win a game 4-0 and your goalkeeper is the man-of-the-match but that is the way it went for us today. "Kerston McPhursen's goal has all his own doing, it was a great solo effort that looked spectacular but we are used to him doing things like that in training. "Getting the second goal before half time was crucial because it settled us down and maybe affected their confidence a bit. "To say the first two goals came against the run of play would be an understatement but after we got into our stride later in the game there is no reason why we couldn't have scored six but we will obviously be happy with the result and the progress into the next round." FATV and the famous trophy were at the match and the extra incentive helped Fisk guide his team to victory. "It has been fantastic to have the trophy down here for the day, there has been lots of people having their photo taken with it and it has made the whole day very special. "It's also helped us get over 200 people down to watch and that is a big crowd for us so it has been a great day all round."
