Touted as one of the most promising young midfielders in the League, he made his debut during the 2005/2006 season for Politehnica Timişoara against FC Argeş Piteşti and scored on his second match, against Farul Constanţa. In a friendly match against ACF Fiorentina, he impressed the opposition's manager Cesare Prandelli, who described him as an exceptional player. On January 15, 2008, Torje signed a five year contract with league champions FC Dinamo Bucureşti. The reported transfer fee was $2 million. The 20 year-old is rated in the £4 million class by his Romanian club and is being tracked by Lazio Roma and Borussia Dortmund.
