West Brom boss Alan Pardew has been talking about the need to bolster his attack this month, but perhaps the best piece of business he can do in January is keeping hold of captain Jonny Evans. The sought-after defender showed how valuable he is to Pardew by scoring a bullet header to give his side the lead after just four minutes had passed. Pardew's forwards may be misfiring but his defenders are proving their worth at the other end. Craig Dawson bullied his marker to dive at the ball and head in to double their advantage. Brighton kept pushing to try and get back into the game but ran out of ides. The victory saw West Brom move to within two points of moving out of the relegation zone.
