Virginia Tech shot the ball at a ridiculously high percentage in the first half. They made 75.0% (18-24) from the field and 76.9% (10-13) from three-point range. Pitt cut a 28-point Virginia Tech lead down to six with eight minutes left in the game, and then down to three with 7.6 seconds left. Storm Murphy was the Hokies leading scorer with 20 points. Justyn Mutts had 16 points, and Nahiem Alleyne scored 14 points. For Pittsburgh, Femi Odukale scored a game-high 25 points, and Jamarius Burton added 21 points.
