He’s 18th Pakistani Cricketer to receive this accolade. Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan added another feather in his cap as he has been named by Wisden in its 2021 list of ‘cricketers of the year’. According to details, Rizwan made it to the list following his brilliant performance during the English season last year. Other cricketers who have been named in the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in the 2021 edition of the Wisden Almanack include Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley, Jason Holder and Darren Stevens. Rizwan is the 18th Pakistani cricketer to have been featured among cricketers of the year by the Wisden. “Rizwan was rewarded for both his work behind the stumps and his batting – he averaged more than 40 across three Tests – for Pakistan during their 1-0 series defeat to England,” Wisden explained about including of Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman in the list. The annual publication of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack picks ‘Wisden Cricketers of the Year’ on the basis of their performance in last English season. Initially, it featured six great bowlers of the year and later in 1897 it started recognizing five best players on yearly basis. In 1955, Fazal Mehmood has the honour of becoming the first ever Pakistani to be named by Wisden among cricketers of the year and ever since then 18 players have made it to the list. Pakistan’s present Prime Minister Imran Khan has also been named in the list. Other Pakistani cricketers have been a part of this list includes Hanif Mohammad, Majid Khan, Asif Iqbal, Zaheer Abbas, Saleem Malik, Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Wasim Akram, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousaf and Saqlain Mushtaq Centurion: Babar Azam scored his maiden century, Mohammad Rizwan supported him strongly as Pakistan thrashed South Africa by 9 wickets in the third T20I on Wednesday.
