It marked a franchise-record 11th straight game that the Jets scored a power-play goal. Scheifele followed a little over three minutes later, one-timing a pass from Wheeler from a tough angle to the left of the goal for his seventh goal of the season. Johnson cut it to 2-1 early in the third period with his first goal of the season, skating in from the right circle and then scooping a shot over Hellebuyck's left shoulder. But Ehlers put the Jets back up 3-1 a little over three minutes later when he backhanded in a shot from the left side of the net off a nice crossing pass from Wheeler to finish a two-on-one break. After Colorado again closed to within a goal again on Jost's second goal of the season, Laine made it 4-2 with his eighth of the season and fifth in three games with a power-play goal.
