June 16, 1998 - On the heels of winning their sixth NBA championship in eight years, the Chicago Bulls were met by a raucous crowd at a capacity rally held in Grant Park in downtown Chicago. Though Michael Jordan's retirement wouldn't become official until January 1999 (just prior to the start of the lockout shortened 1999 season), the general consensus at the time was that the Bulls' six game NBA Finals win over the Utah Jazz was Michael Jordan & company's last ride. By the start of the 1999 season, Chicago's roster had been gutted with Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Steve Kerr, and Phil Jackson all having moved on to greener pastures.
