Dirt bikes, side by sides, and race trucks. This was the first race of the rally season in Senegal 2018. Hosted by the Senegalese Racing Federation. It was the first time in their history that the American flag was being flown! There were three of us (Americans) racing in this rally. It was our first time ever - for all 3 of us. I raced a KTM 500 EXC, my friend on his Honda 250 Rally, and the other on a KTM 450 6 Days. The race was held over 2 days. It began with SS1 in Sinthiou Pir to Baba Garage. Then remaining stages were loops out of the bivouac located at Baba Garage. It was hot. It was scary. It was a lot of fun! My first time competing in an off-road rally. Fellow competitors were a mixed bunch with some novice and some amateur/pro riders. Motocross champions, Rally champions, former Dakar Rally racers (multiple times for a few of them). My overall result was 5th place. I am quite happy with that!
