Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Colonels (6-15, 3-9 SLC) played the Bearkats in the opening weekend of 2020 and were handed a 87-71 loss in Huntsville. Despite the loss, redshirt sophomore and Texas native Lauryn Bowie had another strong outing against Sam Houston with a season-high 17 points . Last year, Bowie scored a career-high 21 points against the 'Kats, missing just one of 10 field goal attempts. Nicholls has alternated wins and loss over the last few weeks, with its last outing being a 78-61 setback against first-place Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday. The Bearkats (14-7, 9-3 SLC) were in a tie for first before losing to UIW on Wednesday. Sam Houston had won nine straight games but has since dropped three of four. Nicholls is averaging 64.1 points per game this season, led by Chrystal Ezechukwu's 13.6. After producing 25.3 point per game in her previous three contests, Ezechukwu was held to six points in the loss to SFA. Freshman Chelsea Cain had her best outing as a Colonel against the Ladyjacks with her first career double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds). Sam Houston State is scoring 77.3 points per game and has four players averaging double figures. Amber Leggett leads the way at 14.7 to go along with 5.1 rebounds and 58 steals. Leggett scored 12 points in the previous win against Nicholls, while Jaylonn Walker (11.9 ppg) and Faith Cook (10.9) each had a game-high 19 points.
