SPURS FALL TO LAKERS ON NEW YEAR’S DAY IN DERRICK WHITE DEBUT

The San Antonio Spurs lost to the Los Angeles Lakers for a second straight time Friday night, falling 109-103. Spurs guard Derrick White made his return to the court for the first time this season, finishing the game with 9 points, two blocks, and one assist in 23 minutes of play. Despite the loss, head coach Gregg Popovich said he was “happy” with his team’s performance and their ability to compete with the defending champions. The Spurs return to action Sunday to close out their homestand against the Utah Jazz.
