Seeking an alternative, the 10 teams have suggested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to conduct a player draft instead. As per the proposal sent to the BCCI, the mega Auction should only continue as per the official schedule, i.e every 3 years. The reason? The exorbitant price tags. Sam Curran went for 18.5 Cr, Cameron Green bagged 17.5 Cr while Ben Stokes and Harry Brook bagged 16.25 Cr and 13.25 Cr respectively. Nicholas Pooran joined Lucknow Super Giants for 16 crores. Rajasthan Royals were in a situation when they could have gone broke going for Harry Brook. But at no point were RR informed of the situation.
