https://geauxcolonels.com/sidearmstats/wbball/summary THIBODAUX, La. - Winners of two straight, the Nicholls State University women's basketball team will look to avenge an earlier loss to Northwestern State as the Colonels take on Lady Demons at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 on Broussard Court at Stopher Gymnasium. The matchup will serve as Fan Appreciation Night with free admission to the game. Nicholls (8-16, 5-10 SLC) has won back-to-back games to stay in the thick of the Southland Conference postseason race. Saturday's win over rival Southeastern Louisiana turned out to be a crucial one as all four teams that Nicholls is chasing lost, allowing the Red and Gray to gain a full game on each. The Colonels welcome Northwestern State, which is also fighting for their postseason lives as its a game back at 7-17 overall and 4-11 in conference.The Lady Demons will be going for their first regular season sweep of Nicholls since 2011. Defense was what stood out for the Colonels in their win against Southeastern, holding the Lady Lions to its second lowest total in points (49) and field goal percentage (.309). In the 58-54 loss at NSU in January, Nicholls held the home team to 30 percent shooting but could not generate enough offense down the stretch. Loan-Anh Johnson has led Nicholls on offense during its two-game win streak, averaging 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. In the two contests against SLU, Johnson scored 21 and 16. NSU has won two of its last three games, including the first road victory of the season in a 54-46 contest at HBU.
