Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Lionel Messi and Neymar to win The Best FIFA Men's Player award for the second year running. Ronaldo, who won the inaugural prize last year, was presented the award at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in London on Monday. The Portugal captain had been favourite to claim the accolade after a year that saw him help Madrid to a third Champions League crown in four seasons and a first La Liga title in five years, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup. Ronaldo scored twice as Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 in the Champions League final, while also finishing top scorer in the competition with 12 goals. The award, which covers the period of Nov. 20, 2016, to July 2, 2017, is voted for by national team coaches, captains, selected media and fans. "Thank you a lot to the guys for voting for me," Ronaldo said in accepting the award. "[I want] to give a mention to Leo and Neymar to be here, Real Madrid supporters, my teammates, my coach, my president --they support me all the year so I have to say thank you to them. "We are in England for the first time and I win consecutive awards. This is a great moment for me." Ronaldo, as well as Barcelona star Messi and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, were named on an initial 24-man list of nominees for the award in August before the trio were included in the final shortlist last month. The Madrid man will hope to follow up this success by winning the 2017 Ballon d'Or, which would see him draw level with Messi in having won the prize five times. 2003 to pressent FlagPortugal (Senior National Team) 2001 to 2002 Portugal FlagPortugal U-17 2002 to 2003 Portugal FlagPortugal U-20 2003 Portugal FlagPortugal U-21 2004 Portugal FlagPortugal U-23 In what teams did Cristiano Ronaldo play?: 2002 to 2003 Sporting CP Logo Sporting CP (Portugal) 31 Games 5 Goals 2003 to 2009 Manchester United Logo Manchester United (England) 292 Games 118 Goals 2009 to pressent Real Madrid CF Logo Real Madrid CF (Spain) 394 Games 406 Goals Stats updated on 06/30/2017 Titles Won: National Team Tournaments: 2 - UEFA European Football Championship: (1) 2016 - Toulon Hopefuls Tournament: (1) 2003 International Tournaments: 9 - Club World Championship: (3) 2008, 2014, 2016 - UEFA Champions League: (4) 2008, 2014, 2016, 2017 - European Super Cup: (2) 2014, 2017 National Tournaments and Cups: 16 Spain: - Spanish League (La Liga): (2) 2012, 2017 - Copa del Rey: (2) 2011, 2014 - Spanish Super Cup: (2) 2012, 2017 England: - English League (FA Premier League): (3) 2007, 2008, 2009 - FA Cup: (1) 2004 - English Super Cup (Community Shield): (1) 2007 - English League Cup (Football League Cup): (2) 2006, 2009 Portugal: - Portuguese League (Superliga): (1) 2002 - Portuguese Cup (Taça de Portugal): (1) 2002 - Portuguese Super Cup (Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira): (1) 2002
