Washington State, Oregon State Get Revenge On the Expansion Big 12 and College Football Playoff

A state court in Washington issued a temporary restraining order on Monday, preventing the Pacific-12 Conference's board from convening a meeting scheduled for the following day to discuss potential decisions regarding the league's future. Oregon State University and Washington State University, the two universities that have not announced plans to depart from the Pac-12, filed a legal complaint against the conference and its officials last Friday. They argued that as the remaining members with a genuine interest in the conference's survival and success, they should have the authority to determine its future. Jayathi Murthy, president of Oregon State, conveyed this sentiment. Kirk Schulz, president of Washington State University, expressed approval of the judge's decision in Whitman County, Washington, via a statement on Facebook. The statement, accompanied by a crimson background featuring a WSU-pattern overlay, read: "We are very pleased with the court’s decision today. It has always been our view that the future of the Pac-12 should be determined by the remaining members, not by those schools that are leaving the conference. This position is consistent with the action the Pac-12 Board of Directors took when the first two schools announced their departure from the conference more than a year ago. We remain firmly committed to exploring all options to protect the interests of our student-athletes, coaches, and fans. We look forward to the court putting the question of governance to rest so that Washington State University and Oregon State University can make reasonable and necessary decisions regarding the future of the Pac-12 Conference. -President Kirk Schulz" Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
