UK is coming off a very VERY brutal Tuesday night loss to Tennessee. It wasn’t the fact that we just lost, but how we lost. Without naming names, players not playing with energy, players arguing with each other, & the overall team just letting their foot off the gas, as we had a 17 point lead in the SECOND HALF! And just could not re-capture that momentum that we had for probably the first 25 minutes or so of this basketball game. No matter what happened Tuesday night.........it does not matter now, it’s in the past, we can’t let it define who we are as a team. LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES! Let’s just be thankful that this did not happen in an ACTUAL TOURNAMENT. Our biggest goal as a team going into this game against Florida should be returning to the great teammates & attitude that we had been playing with for almost the entire season until Tuesday night. Helping someone up if they’re down, picking someone up if they just made a bad play or missed a shot. And even if we are not making shots or it just isn’t “your night”, PLAY WITH ENERGY! That is always going to be the key no matter who we are playing. If we play with energy, passion, & HEART, we will always have a chance at winning. And even if you lose, at least you know you left it all out there on the court. If we can play hard & fight like I know we can, we can win this game. We are definitely up against it with playing a Florida team that had SEVERELY underachieved this season & are teetering on the edge of being a bubble team that really NEEDS a win heading into Nashville next week. The Swamp is going to be crazy, refs not going to be on our side, announcers being annoying............we already know this......but this is also an opportunity to shut EVERYONE UP! Show the world what kind of team we can be tonight, and regardless of the scoreboard, re-build some confidence & like I said last game, RE-CAPTURE THAT SWAGGER & ENERGY THAT I KNOW WE HAVE!!! IF WE GET THIS HEADING INTO NASHVILLE...............we have a chance at winning both tourneys! JUST FIGHT & CONTINUE TO GET BETTER! One more chance to learn & grow as a team before it gets REALLY REAL! I know it’s not the NCAA tournament next week, but it’s a great test run of what kind of team we are going to be once we are put into a bracket! COME ON CATS!!!
