But with only four retentions allowed, CSK were forced to leave a plethora of experienced players including Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis besides younger players like Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur. But CSK will be eying to get them back in the auction. A CSK source close to the development told InsideSport that the franchise will go after some of the players they were forced to release. Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar and Faf du Plessis are all part of their plans for the auction. “It’s not ideal to reveal auction strategy but one can certainly expect us to go after players who have served CSK for long. But I won’t reveal the names we will probably target,” the CSK source close to the development told. CSK retained Ravinder Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Orange Cap holder Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the IPL 2022 Auction. CSK are left with Rs 42 crore to purchase 21 players from the auction. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is in Chennai to plan for the auction and could be there at the CSK table on February 12, 13.
